Pennsylvania Child Care Clearances

Pennsylvania has enacted laws regarding people who work with children (minors) in any capacity. All paid staff and volunteers are required by the State of Pennsylvania to obtain three (3) clearances in order to work with children.

If you wish to work with children or youth in the Bakerstown Alliance Church you must comply by obtaining these clearances through the following links. This includes any parent volunteering to work with minors.

For clarification, even if you already have these clearances through an educational source (teachers or childcare workers) you still need to have a second set of approved clearances to qualify to work with children in the church context. This is not our ruling, but the ruling of the State of Pennsylvania.

If you are a volunteer, and not paid staff, the State clearances are free. If you are a volunteer and have been living in the State o Pennsylvania concurrently for at least 10 years, you may sign an affidavit with two supervising witnesses from the church governing board in lieu of the FBI fingerprinting. If you are a church employee working with minors you must apply for the FBI fingerprinting.

If you are a paid employee of the church your application for clearances will be $8.00 each, paid by credit card online, and the FBI clearance and fingerprinting is required by law and will cost about $27.00 to obtain online. You will receive a receipt which you must then take to the nearest FBI offices and submit to fingerprinting.
